The Coalition's ongoing efforts to save
La Cresta Ridge and Ravine
including the following activities:
- Exploring options for the purchase of the property so that it may be preserved as open space
- Monitoring Cal Water’s actions regarding the property so that we may be ready to quickly respond to the next development proposal
- Maintaining regular dialogue with CWS regarding options for preservation
- Meeting with elected officials to express our concerns about the dangers associated with developing the site and to encourage their participation in the purchase and preservation of it
- Ongoing monitoring and documentation of natural plant, animal, and hydrological resources on the site
- Promoting the adoption of a Hillside Ridgeline Ordinance for the City of Petaluma to limit the size and number of structures that can be built on Petaluma’s scenic hillsides.
- Promoting the inclusion of strong hillside ridgeline protection language in the Petaluma General Plan that is currently being drafted by the city.
